Prehistoric / Neolithic or Bronze Age Dagger or Blade poss. British
Clearly this is an ancient knapped flint tool (dating from the late Neolithic through to early Bronze Age) and is deeply patinated. It was part of a collection containing Danish, pre-dynastic Egyptian and British (Bell-Beaker) blade type tools. I've researched this particular specimen and have been unable to find any exact analogues. My best hypothesis, on the basis of its form, is that it is a repurposed Danish Type II dagger which was mounted as a knife, halberd or spear (there is a notch at the edge). It could alternatively be British (hence not subscribing to the well established Scandinavian Dagger Typology) in which case this, compared to Danish examples, would be exceptionally rare.
