Holy Land Early Bronze Age Amphoriskos 3000 BC
Holy Land Early Bronze Age Amphoriskos A terracotta amphoriskos decorated with a red slip pattern. The vessel has two pierced lugs for suspension at the shoulders, just below a wide-lipped neck, bulbous body decorated with broad red lines which would point to the southern culture of Palestine (see Amiran notes, below, page 49).

The vessel stands on a flat base. Complete and intact; a few very minor chips to rim; some surface wear; with accretions. Width 14.3 cms (5.6 ins). Amongst the earliest of civilisations which flourished in the barren Bible lands, the peoples of the Early Bronze Age who built the first cities produced pottery, which was beautifully and simply crafted.
