Extraordinary Bronze Age Weapon - Contemporary to the Epoch of Troy. A large and long tapered short sword blade with a raised mid-rib, with an insertion tang for attachment. It features beautiful blue-green surface patinas - a sign of its age - with areas of red oxides, minor edge roughness commensurate with age, otherwise intact. Luristan (or Lorestan) is a province of western Iran in the Zagros Mountains. The rich history and culture of this region has resulted in fascinating artifacts, especially known for their high quality bronze, that would make a fine addition to any collection of ancient art and weapons. This area was populated by migrant tribes in the 3rd and 4th millennium BCE. An ancient people known as the Kassites, who had no Semitic or Indo-European language, originated in Luristan.
