A small aged bronze bust of a man marked "Dan Tes" or Dantes. From my research on this bust, visiting sites with identical busts, this is a 19th century grand tour bust of Dante Alighieri. He is extremely well crafted, the facial details and artistry are incredible. There are two holes on the top of his head and I'm assuming that there may have been some sort of a headdress attached there previously.
Or perhaps is was necessary in the casting process the artist used. Other identical busts I have seen online also have similar holes at the top.
Bust is hollow and measures about 6 inches tall. Inside is coated with a layer of what looks like a plaster with scrape marks on it, from the casting process. May have previously been attached to a slab of stone or wood for display purposes. Please ask any questions you have - thanks for looking.
